Dr. Lewis and Associates Accepts Dental Insurance
Dr. Richard Lewis and his team want to ensure that all patients are able to receive the high quality and personalized dentistry they deserve. For this reason, we participate with a number of dental insurance companies and we’ll work with our patients to help them get the maximum benefit that their plan offers. Because your oral health is directly related to your overall health and well-being, there’s never been a better time to take charge of your dental care.
How Does My Insurance Work?
We understand that dental insurance can be confusing and difficult to understand, so our insurance experts on our staff are here to help you understand your benefits. It’s important to know that every dental plan is different, even within the same insurance company.
Many dental plans run on a calendar year schedule, which means that your benefits start in January and end in December. You will typically have a yearly maximum amount that they will pay for both preventive and restorative care, and some plans have a deductible to be met for treatment procedures.
Restorative treatment is usually covered at a percentage, and the remaining balance is your responsibility. There are typically different levels of coverage for dentists who are in and out of the insurance network.
Working with Your Insurance
We’re happy to file insurance claims on your behalf, whether your plan is in or out of network. If you have questions about your network or levels of coverage, we encourage you to contact our office. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will take the time to review your benefits with you so you’re clear on what’s covered and what is an out-of-pocket expense for you.
Dr. Lewis is in network with a number of companies such as:
- Delta Dental – The Premier Plan
- Blue Cross Blue Shield – Non-PPO Plans
- Altus Dental
- Harvard Pilgrim Dental
- Cigna – Non-PPO Plans
- United Concordia
When you choose a dentist that is within your network you will receive the highest benefits and coverage available.
Preventive Care is Important For Your Oral Health
Most plans cover preventive care at 100%. This means that you can get your routine cleaning and examination every six-months at little or no cost to you. This is a great benefit to take advantage of since preventive care is truly the key to maintaining your oral health.
Dr. Lewis will screen you for dental issues such as oral cancer, periodontal (gum) disease, and tooth decay at every dental checkup. Early detection of these conditions will allow you the opportunity for treatment with less invasive and costly procedures.
During your cleaning, our hygienists will remove the excess plaque from your teeth that cause some of these conditions such as gum disease and tooth decay. It is our goal to help you prevent many dental issues from happening in the first place, so be sure to take full advantage of your preventive care benefits.
