There have been mile stone improvements in toothbrushes very recently. One change to come along has been toothbrushes featuring Bluetooth technology. These brushes have apps that are helpful in instructing proper tooth brushing techniques leading to improved levels of oral health.
These apps are currently available for iPhones and Androids. Not only do these apps help you refine your tooth brushing technique, but they also record data so over time you can chart your progress. Two companies with Bluetooth technology toothbrushes are Oral B and Kolibree.
Oral-B actually has two apps. One app is for adults (with many features including reading the newspaper to you while you brush). The second app is for kids. The child oriented app makes a discovery game of brushing their teeth.
Kolibree is a company that is developing an app for tooth brushing with 3-D motion sensors. These sensors will collect lots of data to chart your progress. It will even have a presentation that you can give to your dentist and dental hygienist to show them how your skills are going in between dental visits.
The technical differences that these programs tweak in your home care will undoubtedly help you in your defense against tooth decay and gingivitis. They are major quantum leaps and oral health care and are very good for promoting oral health.
There is another upside to go along with the data collected from these tooth brushes. Dental insurance companies will give discounts to patients who log good results based on data collected on oral hygiene apps. This is very practical and an incentive for patients to work consistently on their oral hygiene programs. Bluetooth toothbrushes are amazing and here to stay!
