We generally recommend your child make their first visit to the dentist no later than age 3. Although if you notice notices any kind of problem they should be seen as soon as possible. We encourage parents to schedule dental visits as early as six months of age. This visit would have the dentist check the gums and the mouth. It would also set the tone of familiarity of the dental office as a safe and supportive environment.
We offer the latest in technology and procedures for children’s dentistry. These include preventive dental care such as regular check-ups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants. We always educate parents on the health of their children’s teeth and gums. We also provide white fillings, extractions, treatment for orthodontic problems (such as crowded teeth, early loss of teeth from tooth decay). We place sealants on molar teeth as they erupt. We also offer white fillings and Teen Invisalign.
We recommend at least every six months. Sometimes we might recommend more frequent visits. For example, children with braces (orthodontics) are usually seen more frequently.
We recommend looking for someone with formal training in a program accredited by the American Dental Association Board. Also, we recommend looking for a Pediatric Dentist certified with the American Board of Pediatric dentistry. In our office Dr. Schafft is a board certified children’s dental specialist. Her technical skills are extremely high and she handles children very well. They feel safe in her care.
